What is Kamea?

Kamea is an IoT device management platform designed for building and operating connected products at scale. It provides a modular architecture, with full source code access to ensure transparency, extensibility, and long-term maintainability.

With Kamea you can:

  • Provision devices with multiple levels of security, including password-based and certificate-based identification.
  • Enable communication with your equipment to ingest telemetries, apply remote configurations, and execute remote commands.
  • Support multiple communication protocols such as MQTT, Azure IoT Hub, and HTTP.
  • Define customizable device types to match the specific constraints of your equipment.
  • Manage users and permissions through the integrated Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) system, including tenants, users, groups, roles, and permissions.
  • Integrate with your own authentication system using OAuth2 support.
  • Manage firmware updates across your device fleet with the built-in firmware management system.
  • Execute large-scale remote updates and configurations using the integrated campaign solution.

You can manage your fleet with our provided front end or easily and quickly develop your own business application that fulfills your requirements.

High-level architecture

Kamea includes:

  • The backend: a RESTful JSON API implementing all features of the platform, allowing you to design your custom app easily.
  • The device management front end: a technical user interface to manage your fleet.
  • The administration front end: a dedicated configuration interface for the platform.
  • Your custom business application: a custom web or mobile application that fits your dedicated business needs.
